Registrations are open for Instituto Escolhas Fellowship of Economics and Environment Master´s Degree

The only scholarship in the country with focus on the interface between economics and the environment is an opportunity for researchers born or acting in the Amazon Region

Registrations are open after the new public notice made by Instituto Escolhas for the Fellowship of Economics and Environment. From March 27 to May 28, 2023, students pursuing a Master´s degree interested in socioeconomic research and development and its relation with the environment can access the Instituto Escolhas (escolhas.org) site and check out how to apply for a scholarship in this year’s program.

Master degree students in Economic Sciences and related areas born in the Legal Amazon or enrolled in educational institutions established in the region may apply. Instituto Escolhas strongly fosters the candidacy of indigenous and African descendants, who will enjoy priority in the selection process in alignment with the affirmative action of the Higher Education Institutions of the country.

The selection process occurs in two stages. In the first stage, applicants must present a set of documents, which, in case of validation will lead to the second stage. “Stage 2 is where the evaluation board evaluates the Research Project, the academic performance and demonstration of interest of each applicant, in this order of importance”, explains Jaqueline Ferreira, portfolio manager of Instituto Escolhas. The evaluation board comprises doctorate professors in Economics and specialists in the themes of interest as defined in the public notice.

Elected candidates will be revealed on July 7, and will be granted a scholarship in the monthly amount of R$ 2.100,00 –equivalent amount to the scholarship as provided by Capes for the master’s degree level.

Since 2017, the Fellowship already granted 34 scholarships for master and doctor degrees, which incentivized the research for excellence regarding economics and the environment. Likewise as occurred in 2022, the new public notice has the support of Instituto Galo da Manhã.
