Unlocking the Bioeconomy Agenda: Solutions to boost the sustainable use of genetic resources and traditional knowledge in Brazil – Executive Summary
Created by Instituto Escolhas and carried out in partnership with Nascimento & Mourão Advogados, the study analyzes the Biodiversity Law (13,123 / 2015) and the main difficulties faced by researchers, entrepreneurs and traditional communities to study and develop products based on the components of Brazilian socio-biodiversity. In addition to mapping the existing barriers, the study proposes solutions to, among other aspects, mitigate legal insecurity, unlock investments and increase the participation of community members in the system of access and sharing of benefits arising from the use of the Brazilian genetic heritage and traditional knowledge associated. The document is part of the Escolhas agenda to unlock the bioeconomy in the country.
