The economy is in the air: what would Brazil gain with more efficient air conditioning? – Executive Summary
This study, which was envisioned by Instituto Escolhas and carried out by researchers Carlos Alberto Manso and Felipe Bastos, from the Federal University of Ceará, analyzes the current model for air conditioner production and sales, as well as the impacts of changes in industrial and energy efficiency policies. The study estimates the effects that would result from combined changes in industrial and energy efficiency policies for air conditioning on the electricity sector, on consumers, and on the environment, and it offers business arguments and proposes a path for change in the sector’s industrial policy.
